Holy Family is more than just a church. It is Our Church - Your Church - Your Community - Your Family.
Through anything and everything that may happen in the lives of any of our family members - we are here to offer love and support. Holy Family is here to celebrate with you in times of joy in the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation and Marriage.
We are also here to walk with you through sorrow and uncertainty. We offer Funeral Masses for your departed loved ones, Anointing of the Sick before surgery or in times of health concerns, and Communion to the sick and homebound.
Please see below for additional information.
If someone in your family has passed away, the first step is to make your funeral arrangements with your funeral home. Then, the funeral home will contact the parish to book the time and date of the funeral. Once this is done, the family should call the parish to book an appointment to see the priest to plan the details of the Funeral Mass.
Anointing of the Sick
This Sacrament is available to anyone who is either sick or facing major surgery. This Sacrament can be received at the church or in some circumstances from a visiting priest. Please call the office to make arrangements.
Communion to the Sick and Homebound
For Parishioners unable to attend Mass because of health reasons or sickness, our Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers are available to bring Communion on Sunday Mornings. Please call the parish to make arrangements.
We can support you and your family in times of need through our parish’s chapter of the Society of St Vincent de Paul, our Outreach Ministry in the community, St. Vincent Palotti’s Kitchen in Oshawa or help you connect with new friends at weekly fellowship after Mass, or at our various social events.
Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Through the collection of monetary donations and regular food drives, the members of our parish chapter of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul support the needs of less fortunate in our community. Among other works, they also organize an annual campaign to provide substantial gift baskets to needy families at Christmas time. To request any support, please call the SSVP phone number listed on the front of the parish bulletin.
This ministry endeavors to offer a means for people otherwise somewhat disconnected from the community of the church to find a place to belong. Our Homeless Mission team provides a lunch meal to people in downtown Oshawa a couple Saturdays a month. Not only is it a physical nourishment, but they also gather and share spiritual nourishment. Through our Refugee Committee, a dedicated team of parishioners have petitioned and successfully started the process to relocate a family here to Whitby.
St. Vincent Palotti’s Kitchen
For people in our community living with food insecurity, St. Vincent’s Kitchen provides a full cooked dinner every day of the year at their facility in downtown Oshawa. At a very minimal cost, this restaurant style dining offers a friendly, respectful environment to enjoy a healthy meal.
Hospitality Every Weekend
We invite you to join us on Saturdays and Sundays in the parish hall after all Masses for coffee, tea and refreshments to enjoy fellowship with other parishioners.
We believe God wants to have a personal relationship with His children. To grow in our relationship with God, we strive to practice daily prayer and Scripture readings as well as develop other spiritual habits.
Find spiritual help and healing through the Sacrament of Reconciliation and through prayer. Prayer requests can be made using our Prayer Request Box. You may also request Mass Intentions, which are given during our weekday Masses or prayer requests during Sunday Prayers of the Faithful for currently sick and recently deceased parishioners. Spiritual guidance is also available through pastoral counselling. Let us know how we can help you. Please see below for more information on how we can support you through prayer.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available to all every Saturday from 4:00pm-4:45pm and upon request. Please visit the’ Sacrament of Reconciliation’ page of this website to learn more about the Healing Power of this beautiful Sacrament of Mercy.

Praise & Worship
Come and be a part of this unique prayer experience and surrender your heart to God! Join us every Friday evening following the 7pm Mass as we express our love and awe of who God is through prayer and contemporary music. Led by the Holy Family Charismatic group, we adore Jesus in the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, we praise Him and give thanks to our Lord through prayer, silence, song and Gospel reflections. Lift up your hands toward the sanctuary, and bless the LORD. Psalm 134:2.
Intercessory Prayer Group
If you feel in your heart that you are being called to pray for the needs of others, please join one of our Intercessory Prayer groups anytime. Intercessory Prayer Groups meet on Thursday evening at 7:00 in the CWL room and we have 2 groups that meet on Friday afternoon, one at 1pm and another at 2pm in the church. Please feel free to join one of these groups at anytime! Miracles are truly happening thanks to the power of prayer in these groups!
We encourage you to join one of our small groups. In a Small Group, you will find your own small community of prayer warriors, an extended family that prays, encourages, supports and grows in faith with you. Please the Small Groups page for more information on how to join a group or start your own.
And just as you would expect in a family home - our doors are always open, come and spend time with our Lord anytime during the week and especially during our Friday Adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Eucharistic Adoration is available every Friday from 12noon until the 7pm Mass and daily before all weekday Masses. On the first Friday of the month, Adoration continues through until midnight.
Rosary & Divine Mercy Chaplet
The Rosary is a powerful and peaceful meditation on the life of Jesus that can be prayed privately or in a group. All are welcome to join in praying the Rosary at Holy Family 30 minutes before all weekday Masses and the Divine Mercy Chaplet is every Friday at 3pm.
Regardless of where you are in your faith, or in your life - we are here for you. If you’d like to talk, but you’re unsure of how to begin the conversation – just give us a call, send us an email, or visit us at the welcome desk after all weekend Masses and say “Hello”. We’d love to welcome you to our family!
