The Jesse Tree tradition helps families prepare for Advent by tracing how God’s plan for Jesus’s birth unfolded over many generations. To use:
SELECT A TREE: You can create your own tree using branches, use a mini table top Christmas tree or you can even draw a tree on paper, hang it on the wall and tape the ornaments to that!
PRINT AND CUT OUT THE ORNAMENTS: Download the Ornaments page and cut out each one – you will use one ornament for each day of Advent. Punch a hole on the top to hang it on the tree. Each ornament symbolizes a story from Jesus’s family tree moving from Creation all the way to Jesus!
READ A DAILY BIBLE STORY: Each day of Advent, read a Bible story about someone on Jesus’s family tree using one of the Jesse Tree Reflections – we have two options; School-age Children OR a simplified option for Toddlers.
HANG AN ORNAMENT: Hang the ornament that symbolizes the story you read on the Jesse Tree.
Repeat: Continue this process each day of Advent until December 24th.
